WHAT IS AVID? / ¿QUÉ ES AVID?

  • A structured, college preparatory system working directly with schools and districts.

  • A direct support structure for first-generation college goers, grades 4-12.

  • A schoolwide approach to curriculum and rigor adopted by nearly 4,500 schools in 45 states and 15 countries.

 

  • Un sistema estructurado, de preparación colegial trabajando directamente con las escuelas y los distritos.

  • Una estructura de apoyo directo para estudiantes del 4º al 12º grado que serán la primera generación en asistir al colegio.

Over 30 years, AVID has become one of the most successful college-preparatory systems ever for low-income, underserved students, and today reaches approximately 400,000 students in nearly 4,500 schools in 45 states and 16 other countries.

 

A lo largo de 30 años, AVID se ha convertido en uno de los mas exitosos sistemas de preparación para el colegio para personas de bajos ingresos, y estudiantes de pocos recursos, y ahora alcanza aproximadamente 400,000 estudiantes en casi 4,500 escuelas en 45 estados y otros 16 países.

AVID OVERNIGHT STUDY TRIP: CSU SAN MARCOS, SAN DIEGO STATE UNIVERSITY, UC SAN DIEGO

Our AVID System sponsored an overnight study trip to San Diego area universities on December 3-4, 2015.  The students toured and spoke with admissions officers from CSU San Marcos, San Diego State University, and UC San Diego.  The trip provided students with knowledge and awareness of colleges and universities and motivation to work toward their goals of achieving higher education.  It is part of MOI's continuing efforts to promote a college-going culture at our school.

AVID FIELD TRIP: BIOLA UNIVERSITY

6th, 7th, and 8th grade AVID students visited Biola University in November.  Students learned about many of the exciting academic programs Biola has to offer.
